Perhaps it's because I grew up in a different era, but somehow I'm not truly convinced that's the reason. I believe myself to have high moral values, I respect the law. I still believe that policemen are out there to help people in trouble. I get a lump in my throat whenever I sing the national anthem and watch the American flag waving in the breeze. And finally, I served in the US military for four years because I thought it was my duty to serve my country.
It makes me sad to see what you have done to this country. A new level of sleaze has filled the White House. It's not just Monica and Paula and the other women in your life. It's also the fire sale of the Lincoln bedroom and the use of the White House to raise money for a political party. You have set a poor example of what a man should be -- a draft dodger and a philanderer. Some role model for my grandchildren.
I am by no means a prude, I like a good joke, I like to have fun, I'm not a bible thumper. My political views are both conservative and liberal -- it depends on the issue.
There's no political ax to grind here, just a desire to see the mess you created get cleaned up. I guess what this country really needs is to give the White House an enema and clean it out. Perhaps we'll get lucky and manage to elect someone with reasonable moral values.
It's time for you to throw in the towel and give the country a well-deserved break. For perhaps the first time in your political, and perhaps personal life as well, think about doing the right thing: resign the presidency and go back to Arkansas. Perhaps this is a chance to go home and clean up your act. As a past president you will still be in the public eye. Perhaps it's not too late to change your legacy and be thought of as respectable. Try it, you might like it.
