Open Letters to Kenneth Starr

11/4/98
Texas

Dear Mr. Starr,

I am a 71 year old male living in Texas and a registered Republican. I realize you were appointed to get to the bottom of the Whitewater scandal but how in God's name did it turn into an investigation of the President's sex life? It is possible Clinton did tell a little white lie under oath about sexual affairs. But what man in the same position wouldn't lie?. That is nowhere near as bad as President Bush standing before us and said "Read my lips -- no new taxes," and then signed the biggest tax bill in history. Understand, I don't approve of condone what Clinton did. But it was no worse than many others before him. Even King David sent Bathsheba's husband into battle to be killed so he could have his wife.

Though the Office of President was disgraced by Clinton's affair, you did far more to hurt the country by dragging out all the intimate details and spending millions and millions of our dollers investigating something that was really a private matter. I have to believe the intent of this attack was to damage the Democratic Party. If so, it didn't work and only made you look like the fool we all believe you are.

Sincerely,

Rusty Rucker
