Hopefully this is the correct way to intro
I am a 49 year old appointee of the Clinton Administration. Also served in the Carter White House. If you think all of this is loopy from where you sit, try working in it.
Being raised to believe that Public service was an honorable pursuit, I have given the better part of my work life to trying to make Government and the political system function better.
Interested in hearing other serious perspectives.

If you haven't already found the Impeachment Hearing thread that's where it's at. What else would you be interested in chatting about? We're mostly burned out with politics and ready to publically tar and feather all politicians.

I lived in Silver Spring from 1982 through April, 1995. My closest friends are still there. He works in the DC Court system.
You're certainly right, DC is a much more "loopy" place that any other I've been in.
To your point about Public service as an honorable pursuit. It is, and should be. However, I tend to separate public service from elected officials. I DO NOT mean to imply that elected officials are not honorable. The public servant is a person who has chosen a career in the government in order to a) make a living, b) make a difference, c) travel, d)for other personal reasons. (in no particular order) It is a career for many, and for many a devoted one, and I know mnay of you. Elected officials are, or should be IMHO temporary. Politics may be a career, but there are too many elements in their choice of career that separates them from public officials.
Thanks for joining the conversation, and I hope to be reading some of your posts on the "other serious perspectives" soon.
