I read two columns in today's News and Observer, Raleigh, NC that I think impact on our subjects. One was William Safire's column. That's a national column, and I think probably can be accessed on the web.

The other was by a writer in Raleigh named Dennis Rogers. His column can be reached through:

www.news-observer.com

I had to search on Rogers. The search gave me a list of his recent columns. It is the one dated for today. Its title is "Maybe the enemy is us." I'd particularly recommend Rogers' column, since it does give a fresh perspective on racism, here and elsewhere. The group has raised some questions about racism. Here's a place to begin another dialogue.

Safire's column was, to me at least, a departure for him. He can never be accused of being even handed about Clinton, yet I think he brought out some good questions about why Clinton brings out such loyalty in the nation. If you have read it in your local paper, or on the net, what are your answers to his questions?
